Paver walkways that stay flat
Pavers are only as good as what’s under them. The job is mostly invisible: digging out, laying and compacting a gravel base, setting edge restraint so the pattern can’t creep, then laying and locking the pavers. Skip the base and frost heave will have the walk rolling within a couple of winters.
Boardwalks from the cottage to the water
A composite boardwalk makes the trip across sand or soft ground clean and easy, doesn’t need staining, and won’t splinter bare feet. It can follow the lay of the land with angled turns, and ties into steps or a landing where it meets the deck.
Replacing an old wood walkway
Worn wood walkways get slick and rot where they touch the ground. Replacing one with pavers or composite is a common part of an entry makeover — often together with new steps, a landing and railings.
